Dark in a Good Way
Even though Edward is suprisingly more absent in this book, it still has the same essence of romance through and through. This book is called "New Moon" because a new moon is the darkest point of the moon, and in Edwards absense it is the darkest point of Bella's life. As she struggles to fight off the intense pain she feels from losing his love.
